Rule 7-107. Appearance of counsel.

(a)  Continuance of appearance from lower court.-  

(1) In civil actions.- In civil actions, the appearance of an attorney entered in the District Court shall be entered by the clerk in the circuit court unless the attorney's appearance has been stricken in the District Court pursuant to Rule 3-132. 

(2) In criminal actions.- In criminal actions, an attorney who intends to represent a defendant on appeal in the circuit court after appearing in the District Court must re-enter an appearance in the circuit court. The appearance of an attorney entered in the circuit court is automatically terminated upon the entry of an appearance by the Public Defender or an attorney designated by the Public Defender, unless the circuit court orders otherwise.

(b)  New appearance.- An attorney newly appearing on appeal may enter an appearance by filing a written request (1) in the circuit court if the record on appeal has already been filed in that court, or (2) in the District Court in all other cases. 

(c)  Striking appearance.- The appearance of an attorney in the circuit court may be stricken pursuant to Rules 2-132 or 4-214.
